Regenexx Network Physician Training

Regenexx is a nationally recognized medical network. One thing that makes Regenexx physicians quite different from the rest is not only how they train their physicians, but how that extensive training continues once they have become part of the network. Check out the video below as Dr. Centeno explains the training process further.

Only highly skilled physicians who are experienced in image guidance and in treating musculoskeletal conditions are qualified for and accepted into the Regenexx Network. Today there are many choices for stem cell therapy that you may see in online ads or through other media. How do you know who to trust? If you are like most, you need to know that the physician is skilled in his or her field and you need to see results.

That is why we take such pride in being a Regenexx provider at Regenexx Tampa Bay. The process of entering this prestigious network of providers is extremely selective. When Regenexx began offering orthopedic stem cell treatments in 2005, there was no one in the U.S. performing these procedures. In 2011, Regenexx began constructing a network of providers. Since then, there have been thousands of physician applications with only just over 100 being accepted.

Extensive IOF and Regenexx Training in Interventional Orthopedics

The Interventional Orthopedics Foundation (IOF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to educating physicians in precise image-guided musculoskeletal procedures. In 2018, for example, the IOF provided 17 courses covering more than 90 different procedures

In order to be accepted and remain in the Regenexx Network, physicians are required to undergo an immense amount of IOF training. The physician must attend extensive didactic training. This is followed by a hands-on cadaver course where the physician is instructed and assessed performing each procedure. This is a pass/fail assessment and the IOF does not advance those doctors that do not perform the procedures correctly. Additionally, the physician must pass a written exam to be admitted into the Regenexx program.

Regenexx-specific training and education is also required on top of IOF training. This is part of what separates Regenexx from other stem cell therapy providers. From basics like which types of orthobiologics to use where, to how to maximize the number of living cells, to how to perform the best possible bone marrow aspiration, Regenexx physicians learn it all from the best in the industry. More about how comprehensive the required training is can be seen in the video below.

Initial and Ongoing Training Examples

To ensure a standardized high level of care across the Regenexx network a multistep process is implemented. This includes physicians spending time at a mentor Regenexx site as well as watching real case studies to observe how best to apply the technology.

This is essential because while understanding a procedure is good, you must also know exactly when and where to apply it. You will need to be able to determine what kind of patient needs a precise injection of their MCL ligament in the knee versus only into the meniscus. Or, what kind of patient needs to have stem cells placed into a low back disc versus one who needs advanced platelet products injected into the joints, ligaments, and around the nerves. This knowledge is learned through the Regenexx onboarding videos and onsite training at a Regenexx training site.

Interventional orthopedics is constantly changing and growing. In order to remain the most elite in the interventional orthopedics field and provide the best care possible to patients, Regenexx Network Physicians must stay current. Regenexx produces and provides continuing medical education videos that are distributed to our doctors several times a month.

Becoming part of the Regenexx network is difficult with all of the rigorous training and required in network Continuing Medical Education. No other medical network in this space requires this amount of high-level, continuous training.
